Case Study: Opera Browser Explainer Videos. Animated Video Production

Take a glance at a set of animated explainer videos we created to uncover various benefits of Opera Browser with AI and inform users of its handy features.

When adding new features and improvements to digital products, companies must find efficient, concise, and engaging ways to inform customers or users about them. One well-tested and proven method to achieve that goal is custom-made animated videos crafted for specific needs, and in this brief case study, we invite you to check how it works. Let’s take a glance at a set of animated explainer videos we created to uncover various benefits of Opera Browser with AI and inform users of its handy features.

What Is Explainer Video

An explainer video is basically a piece of video content that explains to the viewer what the product, company, project, or service is about, what users’ problems it solves, or what goals it helps to achieve. This type of video might answer the most frequent questions that arise about it. Being a part of branding strategy, it is focused on presenting the benefits of the product or service and explanation about how to use them. It often employs storytelling techniques showing the flow of interaction or sharing particular cases and situations, and infographics that help to understand the solution quickly.

Now, let’s check how this approach works in the explainer videos for informing users about the Opera browser’s functions and problem-solving abilities.

Project and Client

Opera is a browser widely known and used by millions of users worldwide. Since 1995, the team behind it has been doing its best to make the browser fast, safe, and smart, amplifying its power with innovative technologies and approaches. The browser is fully featured for privacy, security, and the diversity of needs its users may have online.

Another thing Opera is known for is its open and active communication with users, which aims to uncover the current benefits and problem-solving potential at the maximum. One way to do this is through animated videos that explain particular features, present innovations, or inform about new improvements. Actually, that was how our long-term collaboration with Opera started many years ago when our team worked on the bright animated year-in-review video for them. Since then, we’ve been regularly involved in some creative marketing design tasks for them, and this case is about one of them. Here, the task for tubik was to create a set of short, focused videos presenting some browser features to users in a clear and engaging manner and employing the power of visual storytelling.

The creative team from our side for this task included Ivan Shvyndin, Ladamyra Kunytsa, Yaroslava Yatsuba, and Olga Syrotkina.

Process and Result

All the videos were based on detailed explanations, scene descriptions, and some storyboards from the client’s side, and we had to find an effective, informative, and easy-to-understand way to showcase the browser’s benefits and functions through graphic design, illustration, and animation.

An interesting point about the case was that all the videos had to be produced in different proportions, such as 16:9, 9:16, and 1:1, and they also had to be adapted to local usage in a variety of languages (English, Spanish, German, Italian, Polish, French, and Dutch).

So, as you can see below, all the animated videos created for this consistent set combine typographic parts with keywords or phrases, graphics that set a direct visual association with a desktop or mobile device and interactions with the browser, and illustrations or schematic graphic elements that reflect the feature and the problem it solves.

Let’s take a closer look at the creative outcome.
